I think my Animation ended quite well considering it was a long process filming 30 seconds. Towards the end I started using big movements but the final edited animation doesn't look too jumpy. The music and sequences fit well with the movie template.

If I was to do it again I would spend more time using smaller movements and keep saving my animation (do about 10 seconds at a time) this will make sure it doesn't crash and make me lose my work.

I think in iMovie the set Movie theme worked well with the heroic music, it fit in well with the story of my Animation and the characters.

My peers in the class gave me pretty much positive comments, they said they enjoyed the intensity of the animation and the action. The critical feedback they gave me would be to use less slower movements, i did at the beginning of the animation but towards the end i started to rush it as i was running out of class time.

Based on the responses, I would film it again, give more detail to my characters, and use less movement to make it look more realistic. Also, with the background i used i would try and focus the camera to make it look further away and get more of the background image in.

Here are my comments from my peers in class, overall they gave me positive feedback.

I think this is a very good animation I enjoyed the humour and the music in the video, if I was to change something I would change the models so the man stood up.

This is Denhams comment, i agree with this as it would have made my video alot more interesting by having more than just the mans arms moving.

very good matty the video was edited very well and was certainly fun to watch i loved all the little characters very detailed and the background was very good the video was jumpy very creative and loved every minute of it very good no improvement needed

Sophie pointed out that my animation was jumpy, to fix this next time I would spend more time and move my characters slower to make it look more smooth.

I liked your video, It was interesting & funny. I liked everything really. the music was intense and the story was simple. Plus the animation was very well done :)

I don't know how to change or reply to anything as there was no criticism given!

i think your video was good. it was funny and the intensity within the video was excellent.

Again no constructive criticism and a positive comment.

Good animation, well edited. It meets all the requirements for the assignment. If I was to change anything I'd gave the main character more detail and made him look more human.

This comment again tells me to change my main character and make him more detailed, as he wasn't my main idea for a character he was kind of rushed meaning the details and colours weren't the best.

With the comments I have a good idea of what i would like to do if I was to animate again.

Thank you everyone for your comments! :)

Final Edited video!

Here is my Final edited video, i used iMovie and an already existing template which made my animation look like a sort of movie trailer. I used my clips and transitions from iMovie, the heroic music is also from iMovie.

28th March Lesson

Today i finally recorded my Stop Motion!

It lasted about 30 seconds (excluding Titles & Credits)

Here is the video unedited and with no music:

To make my Background stand up I used a number of selotaped rulers to the back of my printed out image. Then I selotaped the base to it to make it fit in.

Here are a couple of pictures how I did it:

Todays Lesson..

I have started filming my Stop Motion and got up to about 5 seconds, next week I will continue it and hopefully finish!

The backgrounds and characters work well and i think it should work when finished.

Lessons Progress

Today i have finalised my models, fixing the crocodiles and making a human on a raft (with hotdogs).

I have then chose, printed and cut out  2 backgrounds to use.

I am now ready to film!

Storyline Change

I have decided to change my storyline to a more simplified one.

I am going to use a family of crocodiles (simply because it;'s the only animal i can make) and then some humans on a boat.

They will either end up fighting or  becoming friends.. The video will reveal all!

Dope Sheet

Here is our Dope Sheet for our Lip Syncing.

We were to lip sync the word 'Elephant' and timed how many frames it was for each synonym of the word.

From looking at everyone else's we found out that we got pretty much the same idea of background and used the same mouth for each letter.

This was the face we used and were going to use to animate with the different mouths on.

Backgrounds

For my story it will most likely be based in a Desert (with the crocodiles) with parts of water.

I can either use a real life background or a cartoon background.

It will probably be off Google Images and i will print it out and then move my models around on it.

For example a Desert could look like:

With the men on Camels in the background makes it look more realistic when i am filming my story.

This background would most likely be better. As it has blue skies and a sunny background it will give the image of a Desert, but with the water it will let the Crocodile's crawl out and move around in the Grassy areas.

I think if using the squirrel it will suit any background and environment. As it if more of a funny character it can just turn up anywhere and do what it has to do.

Models.. Snake!

This is a picture of all the characters so far. Pretty random selection but they were just made to test how easy or difficult they were to make.

I think I will use a crocodile family in my final story and maybe the squirrel.

Here is a multi coloured snake (VERY poisonous) I made in todays lesson, if using a Snake in my story i will either mix colours together or just use one colour. Snakes are easy to make and move so would be easy to use when recording.

Further Models.. Extra Crocodile

Baby Crocodile added, will probably make more to add to the family.

This is what a real Crocodile family looks like. They have at least more than 10 reptiles in so i will have to make a scaled down version.

Rough Models

First i attempted the Squirrel holding an acorn. It worked quite well however if i decide to use this i will make it bigger.

It should have been Grey but i could not find Grey clay so instead i used Brown. I think it worked quite well apart from the size.

Instead of trying to make a hippo i decided to use an alligator/crocodile. I think this worked well as i could use a pattern on its back for the scales. I think it worked well considering it was just a first rough idea.

Story Line

My Story will involve a main Character as a Ninja Hippo. He will have a Wingman which is a Goofy Squirrel. They will travel the world and be hired as Hitmen. They have to fight off the other animals that get in their way and the ending is a secret!

Ideas of Characters I can use.

Outline of Ideas

Ideas for Characters:

Simple characters such as Purple & Brown.
Animalistic Characters (Zoo Animals/Pets)
Horror Characters (Zombies/Vampires)
Plain Human Characters.

When creating my Characters i have to figure out their characteristics. For example how many body parts, skin colour, features...

Possible Story-lines:

Have to be quick and to the point. Use of imagination to keep it entertaining.
Will either do a comedy or horror story line. If Horror violence will most likely be needed to keep it entertaining.

Scripts:

I won't use talking characters if anything i will just have them making random noises. I can write a script of what is happening or a step-by-step guide to remind me of what to do and when.

Backgrounds:

I will either use a background off Google Images or draw one and colour in one. Then i can lay it down and move my characters on top of it.

Photographs:

I will take photographs of already existing backgrounds and can print them out to see how well they work depending on what my characters look like when finalised.

Cell - Based Animation

Cell-Based Animation is where each image is reproduced and then little changes are made to the next image. This shows overall as an image moving when they are all just little different drawings. For example, a flip book. As each cell is different to the previous and next, it gives the appearance that is is a moving image.

This is an example of Cel Based animation, a flip book. This shows someone drawing a stick figure person with a bouncy ball. As each image has little differences the final piece looks like the ball is actually bouncing. Giving the illusion that it is a moving image.

This is another example of a flip book in cel based animation. It is based on the MAtrix movie and shows the gun being loaded then follows the bullet which has been shot. There were hundreds of images put together for this 1 minute long Cel Based Animation.
